Tree Surveys
A
tree survey is a professional appraisal of Trees on a site, identifying
species, dimensions, location, structural condition, physical health
and tree management & retention recommendations.
Our Tree Survey services can be used for the following activities:
Risk Assessment & Tree Safety
Where trees and buildings co-exist, we can evaluate the impact of the
trees on near-by structures along with an assessment of their potential
hazard. We can identify trees which are likely to fail resulting in
potential civil liability and personal injuries.
Site Developments & Construction
We can provide an Arboricultural assessment of trees on
development sites, with recommendations on the condition and
environmental value of existing site trees. We can also provide
recommendations on any limitations or hazards that existing trees may
pose to new constructions.
All recommendations are in accordance with:
- BS 5837 – Trees in relation to construction – Recommendations 2005
- BS 3998 – Recommendations for Tree Work
Law and Litigation
In legal disputes over tree failures, personal injury and boundary
disputes we can provide expert witnesses from our database of qualified
Arboricultural Consultants.
Tree Management
We can also supply an Arboricultural management strategy designed to
protect the health and structural stability of trees in the long term.
Typically our Tree Surveys are used to record the following:
- Species: Identity of the tree specimen type.
- Age of the specimen.
- Tree Dimensions: including the canopy height, spread, level of canopy base and stem diameter at 1.5metres from ground level.
- Physical Condition: Visual assessment of the tees condition from ground level, (unless otherwise requested, requires climbing).
- Structural Condition: commentary regarding form, defects, damage, injury or disease by the tree.
- Recommendations
for Arboricultural actions or works necessary at the time of the
inspection and relating to the existing site context.
- Retention Period: defined as Short (0-10yrs), Medium (10-20 yrs), Long (20-40 yrs), Long+ (40+ yrs).
- Categorisation
which is intended to quantify a tree with regard to its Arboricultural
value as well as a combination of its structure and physical health.
- Site Drawings, can be included, depending on requirements.
- Site Images, can be included.
